What is IELTS?
International English Language Testing System
IELTS measures English proficiency for study, work, and migration. Two versions exist: Academic (university/professional registration) and General Training(work experience, migration to UK/Canada/Australia/NZ). The test has 4 modules and a total time of ~2h 45min. Scores are reported on a 0–9 band scale.

How the band score is calculated
- Each of the 4 modules is scored 0–9.
- The overall band is the average, rounded to the nearest half-band.
- Example: L 7.5, R 7, W 6.5, S 7 → 28 ÷ 4 = 7.0 overall.
- Universities usually ask for 6.0 – 7.5 with no band below 6.0.
